A: Exclusive to the VX-7, just give the SpeeDial adjustment dials a half turn, and each smoothly slides outward for adjustment. Knurled for an easy grip, they offer 20-MOA of adjustment per revolution, and even feature unique, field-interchangeable BDC dials. The adjustments are both easy to read and reset to zero, and offer 1/4-MOA, finger-adjustable clicks for absolute precision. Once set, simply push the adjustment dials back in place and give a turn to close them. Additional turns will lock the dials in place for secure adjustments: the integral cap provides a highly secure stow position. The titanium nitride/stainless steel adjustments offer incredibly tight tolerances and near perfect engagement of the interior surfaces of the windage, elevation, and parallax adjustment dials. When most scope manufacturers quote percentage of light transmission, they usually mean at 550 nM, the green light spectrum where the human eye is most sensitive. The challenge is that in twilight conditions, green light disappears and blue / violet light takes over. Your eye is already handicapped when it comes to seeing the blue / violet spectrum, and if your scope is cutting too much of it out, soon you won’t be seeing anything. The Xtended Twilight Lens System places extra emphasis on matching coatings to glass indices to achieve the best possible transmission of the blue / violet spectrum, without sacrificing the color balanced light transmission across the visual spectrum of the Index Matched Lens System. Q: NEW» LEAD-FREE GLASS LENSES
A: The foundation of the Xtended Twilight Lens System is the lens itself. The new, lead-free glass lenses of the VX-7 have two distinct advantages. First, they offer the crystal clarity for a precision optical instrument, yet are significantly lighter weight than standard lenses containing lead. For the hunter stalking sheep in the thin air of the mountains or trekking after African game with rifle in hand, any weight savings are welcome. Second, the lenses are produced with none of the environmentally damaging by-products common to standard glass production. A small step, but one in the right direction.

A: Exterior lens surfaces are treated with DiamondCoat 2, an ion-assist lens coating, for higher light transmission and the greatest level of abrasion resistance we’ve ever offered. Q: DUAL SPRING, 4X ERECTOR SYSTEM
A: Built to survive intense abuse while still providing Leupold’s crystal clear 4x magnification range, this dual spring erector system exerts up to 30 percent more holding force on the erector system than Leupold’s already rugged standard erector system. This virtually eliminates erector system backlash and stress on internal workings of the VX-7, resulting in a longer life span and generations of hunting built-in.

Q: PARALLAX ADJUSTMENT
A: Like the windage and elevation dials, the parallax adjustment opens up with a twist, and twists back into place once adjusted. Conveniently located on the left side of the turret, you can easily focus the target image onto the reticle for zero parallax in all conditions.

A: The wide, generous eyebox of the VX-7 series makes it faster and easier to get your eye behind the riflescope and achieve a full, clear sight picture than ever before. Setting up longer shots, you’ll appreciate the flexibility the VX-7 affords, and in big game, close-up situations, the quick target acquisition will be the difference maker. Even at high power, the longer eye relief and more forgiving eyebox of the VX-7 gives you incredible latitude and a full sight picture, much more than you’ll find in other premium optics, including fine European riflescopes (as the chart below illustrates). To determine the maximum area in which the eye can be placed while maintaining a full sight picture, we use four separate measurements at the riflescope’s highest and lowest magnification settings.
